Text Box: The Sheraton Harborside works diligently to address sustainability issues while continuing to pamper their guests.  The Sheraton saves energy through the use of compact fluorescent lighting in guest rooms and other areas where lights remain on more than six hours, inside and out.  Appliances are replaced with Energy Star rated equipment.  Water is conserved through towel & linen reuse program, careful landscaping/maintenance and low- flow devices.  A new  recycling program is being implemented in back office and banquet facilities.  Cloth napkins and reusable dinnerware are the norm in guestrooms and dining areas.  Service vendors also employ energy & water conservation and waste reduction  strategies.  The Sheraton encourages employee suggestions and rewards innovative ideas and provides training in environmental measures.

Text Box: Beachview Inn, Hampton Beach

The Beachview Inn has implemented many environmentally sensitive initiatives, some with the help of Environmental Champion, Kevin Johnson at the Gale River Motel.  The Beachview reduces its energy use with CFLs, inside and out, EE Exit signs and a policy to replace equipment with Energy Star rated appliances.  They conserve water through a towel and linen reuse program, low-flow water devices and replacing annual plantings with silk flowers.  Their waste is reduced through recycling cans and bottles, public area newspapers, bulk purchasing and double-sided printing.  They have improved indoor air quality by reducing the use of hazardous chemicals and are looking into safer cleaning alternatives.

The Courtyard by Marriott in Portsmouth has undertaken several environmental initiatives.  Energy efficient lighting has been installed in  all guestrooms, hallways and exterior areas, LED Exit signs save energy and appliances are Energy Star rated models.  Water is conserved through a towel & linen reuse program, low-flow toilets, and landscaping with perennials.  The hotel also recycles, has glassware in guestrooms, uses cloth napkins, 30% post-consumer recycled content copy paper and has a paperless check-in.  They employee integrated pest management outdoors and are moving to environmentally cleaners within the next couple of months.

Text Box: The Wentworth by the Sea Resort pampers their guests while reducing their environmental footprint.  Energy is conserved through energy efficient lighting throughout the inside of the resort and much of the exterior, LED Exit signs, Energy Star rated LCD televisions in guestrooms and TVs and appliances in the marina extended-stay suites and a policy to replace equipment with Energy Star models, and an energy management program.  Water conservation is achieved low-flow water devices, a towel and linen reuse program, landscaping with many natives and perennials

Text Box: The Residence Inn in Portsmouth has implemented many environmentally-sensitive initiatives.  The property employs energy efficient lighting in all guestrooms and has a policy to purchase Energy Star appliances.  Water use is reduced through the use low-flow water devices in guestrooms and  a towel and linen reuse policy.  Waste reduction is achieved through paper recycling, reusable dinnerware, paperless registration and optional email check-out.  Lightly used blankets are donated to charity.  Hazardous waste has been reduced through the implementation of Green Seal certified cleaning products and the proper disposal of CFLs.

Text Box: The Fairfield Inn and Suites, a new facility in Exeter, opened with many environmentally-friendly features.  Energy conservation is a focus of the property; energy efficient lighting is installed throughout, occupancy sensors control heating, cooling and lighting in unoccupied rooms, most appliances are Energy Star models and Exit signs employ LED technology.  Water is conserved through low-flow devices in guestrooms, a linen and towel reuse program and limited landscape watering.  An ozone laundry system reduces energy, water and chemical use.  The property reduces waste through recycling, electronic receipts and newspaper in common areas.  The property has also reduced the use of hazardous chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers and uses low-VOC paints and formaldehyde free carpet glue.

Text Box: The Residence Inn in downtown Portsmouth was built to meet LEED certification standards. The management is equally committed to environmentally-sensitive operations.  Energy efficiency is achieved through occupancy sensors, high efficiency lighting and equipment, low-e windows and a heat exchanger.  Water conservation is realized with high performance water devices in guestrooms and towel & linen reuse programs.  Waste reduction is not only a priority in operation (achieved through recycling, source reduction and the purchase of materials with recycled

Content) but also in the demolition of the old building and construction of the new facility resulting in 95% of waste by weight being recycled through local companies.  Hazardous waste is reduced through the use of Green Seal certified cleaning products low volatile organic compound paints and carpet glues, minimized use of pesticides and an Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Policy.
